Designer Biography

Emré Erturk is an acclaimed artist who has been painting ever since he was two years old. It is no wonder how far he has come, being born into a family of creativity and entrepreneurship. His parents were at the top of their fields respectively; his father owned one of the largest meat distribution companies to Turkey and Greece and his mother was in leather business making leather wear for all of Europe.

He continues their legacy of excellence and love today. By the age of fourteen, Emré won several national prizes for his paintings in Turkey. In 1992 he moved to London, where he studied fine arts and design at the American College of Arts. He continued his education in Istanbul at the Marmara University of Fine Arts. Erturk has had major art shows throughout Europe during his studies and after his graduation (his paintings can be found in fine art galleries, priced in the thousands). He has also designed an exclusive line of handbags and t-shirts under his own name for the famous fashion house Vakko during the period of 1994- 1997.

Nowadays, anyone familiar with the fashion scene in Istanbul and New York recognizes the name EMRÉ, short for Emré Erturk -the well known painter and handbag designer to celebrities and jet-set on two continents: Europe and North America. His clientele ranges from Hollywood to Aristocracy. Paris Hilton, Tori Spelling, Jessica Simpson, Robert De Niro, Geena Davis, Beyonce, Carmen Electra, Britney Spears, Famke Janssen, Kevin Klein, Kid Rock , Shaun Tobb, Oprah Winfrey, Kathleen Kennedy, Princess Nilufer, Princess Irine, Hon Cherie Blair, Meera Ghandi and Jennifer Lopez are some of the names among his celebrity clientele.

Emré has had a number of media and press accolades. Most notably, he was the official handbag designer for the 2006, 2007 and 2009 Oscars. He combines his knowledge of art and design to create styles that standout. He knows how to merge the fine art of expert stitching with finished leather to produce a versatile and functional collection. Specializing in fine leather goods, Emré's creative spirit has branched out into many areas from luxury dog carriers to shoes.
